The Valley of Dry Bones
OT MetaphorEzekiel 37:1-14

The Valley of Dry Bones

The hope of revival where there is only death.

1. Historical-Scientific Aspect

Ancient battlefield where bodies were not buried (ultimate curse). 'Very dry' bones indicate ancient, irreversible death. Israel in exile said: 'our hope has perished'.

2. Theological Aspect (Universal Basic)

Only the Word of God and the Spirit (Ruach) can generate life. Order of revival: Preaching (to the bones) + Prayer (to the Spirit). It applies to the restoration of Israel and the spiritual resurrection of the Church.

3. Counterpoints and Misinterpretations

Magical Triumphalism: Thinking that 'prophesying' (positive speaking) creates reality by itself. Ezekiel prophesied what God commanded, not his own desires.
