The self-deception of sin and the power of confrontation.
1. Historical-Scientific Aspect
Kings in the Middle East were supreme judges. Natã presents a fictitious legal case. The pet sheep (sleeping on his lap) emphasizes the rich man's cruelty. David judges furiously, without realizing that he judges himself.
2. Theological Aspect (Universal Basic)
We are great judges of other people's mistakes and lawyers of our own. The Word of God (Nathan) breaks moral blindness. 'You are this man'.
3. Counterpoints and Misinterpretations
Thinking that the 'man after God's own heart' is impeccable. David is a model of repentance, not moral perfection.
