The Useless Servant
Obedience does not generate debt from God to us.
1. Historical-Scientific Aspect
Slavery was the economic basis. A slave returning from farming still had to serve his master dinner before eating. There was no 'overtime' or 'thanks'.
2. Theological Aspect (Universal Basic)
Destroys the religion of merit. Even if we do everything perfectly, we are just servants doing duty. God blesses us by promise and grace, not because He 'owes' us.
3. Counterpoints and Misinterpretations
Bargaining Campaigns: 'I did X, God has to do Y'. God is not anyone's debtor. Our relationship is one of alliance, not a commercial contract.
