The Unfaithful Administrator
Use temporal resources to guarantee eternal dividends.
1. Historical-Scientific Aspect
The administrator reduced the debts by removing his own usurious commission (interest prohibited by law but charged secretly), gaining popular favor and 'legalizing' the remaining debt for the boss. That's why the boss praised his wit (phronimos), not his ethics.
2. Theological Aspect (Universal Basic)
Jesus does not praise dishonesty, but foresight. The wicked used money (which he was going to lose) to make friends. Christians must use the 'money of injustice' (Mammon, resources of this world) to win souls (friends who will receive us in heaven).
3. Counterpoints and Misinterpretations
Justify financial corruption in the church. The text concludes: 'Whoever is faithful with little (money) is also faithful with much'. The lesson is strategic generosity, not fraud.
